Pros

  • Improved animal AI over previous games in the series. Animals now have more behave realistic behavior when spooked, combined with different levels of spooking, for super realistic animal AI.
  • RPG elements allow players to fully customize their hunters, with points that players can attribute to various skills, such as tracking or sneaking. Marksmanship also improves with every kill.
  • Unlike previous games, the mouse pointer no longer appears during hunts. Gameplay in Trophy Hunter 2003 is far more fluid, utilizing simple keyboard commands and mouse clicks, and no longer involves having to search for items or menus with the mouse pointer before being able to use them, as in previous games.

Cons

  • Because the game released in 2003, some players may find the graphics or game speed dated and slow.
  • Animals of the same type lack variety, and the only thing that sets apart two bagged trophies are the weight. For example, there is no rack point count for antlered deer.

Trophy Hunter 2003 allows you to hunt after the biggest prized game in North America from your computer. Players can hunt black bear, elk, caribou, mountain lion, grizzly, bighorn sheep, and moose across six locations, from New Mexico all the way to Alaska. Environments feature dynamic weather, and a variety of off-limit, ambient animals, such as bald eagles or trout, which add realistic qualities to every area.

At the beginning of the game, players receive a certain amount of money to begin their hunt. The game adds money to the player's account at the end of every hunt, based on various factors such as the overall difficulty of the campaign and the type of animal hunted. As players accumulate more money, they can afford to buy better equipment. Players are given the choice of purchasing and hunting with a variety of shotguns, bows, crossbows, and rifles to bag trophy game with in each campaign.
